Perform the steps below to install USC*PACK on a PC running Windows9x/NT/2000. Step [4] only applies to Windows2000. Note that some of the USC*PACK (the programs using the Phar Lap dos memory extender) will not work with WindowsXP. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any question regarding the installation or use of the USC*PACK set of programs. Email: contact@lapk.org You may also find valuable information at our web site: http://www.lapk.org/ [1] Extract/unzip the demo1191.zip file to a directory of your choice. Installing into C:\USCPACK is probably best. If you wish to have the USCPACK directory within another directory, that directory must have a name of 8 characters or less. For example, C:\Program Files\USCPACK will not work, while C:\ANYDIR\USCPACK is a workable example. [2] The setup program does not update your autoexec.bat. Please consult the USC*PACK user manual page 9 for information about modifying your autoexec.bat file. See [4] if you are using the Windows2000 operating system. [3] If your operating system is Windows2000 the two environment variables can be set as follows: - Right-click "My Computer" and select "Properties" - Select the "Advanced" tab - Click on "Environment Variables" - Click on the upper "New" - Type USCPACK as "Variable Name" - Type C:\USCPACK as "Variable Value" (or the location where USCPACK is installed) - Click "OK" Add the INTINIT variable in the same manner. The "Variable Name" is INTINIT, and the "Variable Value" should be similar to C:\USCPACK\INTERACT.INI (again depending on where you installed USCPACK)
